Monday, Jan. 11, 2010 - Author Talk 6:30 pm. Robert (Bob) Mills, author of The Laugh Makers: A Behind-the-Scenes Tribute to Bob Hope’s Incredible Gag Writers: a priceless collection of recollections from a 17-year veteran television writer for Bob Hope; stories, anecdotes, monologues, sketches, jokes, and parody songs, illustrated by 83 backstage photos taken by the author of Mr. Hope, his guest stars, and his writers. Presentation will be followed by coffee, conversation, and book signing opportunity.
Monday, Feb. 8, 2010 - Author Talk 6:30 pm. Deacon Jones, author of 40 Years with the Blues Legends: The Life and Times of Melvyn "Deacon" Jones. A composer and arranger, as well as a widely-acknowledged master of the Hammond B3 organ, Deacon Jones served for over 18 years as band leader for blues legends John Lee Hooker, Freddie King and Curtis Mayfield. Program will include lecture and musical performance.
Monday, March 1, 2010 - Author Talk 6:00 pm. legendary author Ray Bradbury will speak about his love of public libraries and his experiences at Memorial Branch, as well as about his writing and books Fahrenheit 451, The Homecoming, Farewell Summer, The Illustrated Man, The Martian Chronicles, Now and Forever, Something Wicked This Way Comes, Marionettes, Inc., We’ll Always Have Paris and much more. 6:30 pm.
